What Motivates You In An Internet Overload of Authors

Good Morning,
It's a beautiful day in Northern Arizona and I wanted to share a comment made by a forty two year old man. I mentioned I was an author. He asked if I was published. I said yes. Then he nonchalantly informed me that everybody was into that now. As if it was no big deal. At first I was put off by the comment. Then I remembered when I first started playing golf another friend made a similar comment that everybody was into golf.
As for writing, it is more work than anyone can imagine. No one can just sit down and write a book. Unless of course you have a degree in journalism. Even English majors find it difficult.
In the beginning, I spent a great deal of time taking colleges courses designed for writers. Not to mention the continuing education classes offered by many. I have written four books and I still continue to learn and try to improve my skills. A writer's job is never done. It would compare to medical personnel who continually update their skills for better patient care.
I would love to know what you think.

Valentine's Day

Romance authors should enjoy this love letter which I copied from the internet. It shows no matter our position in life, romance is there. Enjoy.

Valentine’s Day
Romantic Love Letter

In addition to being a brilliant military mind and feared ruler, Napolean Bonaparte (1763 - 1821) was a prolific writer of letters. He reportedly wrote as many as 75,000 letters in his lifetime, many of them to his beautiful wife, Josephine, both before and during their marriage. This letter, written just prior to their 1796 wedding, shows surprising tenderness and emotion from the future emperor.

Paris, December 1795

I wake filled with thoughts of you. Your portrait and the intoxicating evening which we spent yesterday have left my senses in turmoil. Sweet, incomparable Josephine, what a strange effect you have on my heart! Are you angry? Do I see you looking sad? Are you worried?... My soul aches with sorrow, and there can be no rest for you lover; but is there still more in store for me when, yielding to the profound feelings which overwhelm me, I draw from your lips, from your heart a love which consumes me with fire? Ah! it was last night that I fully realized how false an image of you your portrait gives! You are leaving at noon; I shall see you in three hours.Until then, mio dolce amor, a thousand kisses; but give me none in return, for they set my blood on fire.

WELCOME TO MY BLOG

The upcoming weekend in northern Arizona is a big bash and rodeo. Everyone around here likes to call this the oldest rodeo in the American West. There will be Bluegrass bands and many people in the town square under temperatures of 90 plus degrees. Personally, I prefer cooler places to have fun. My husband and I have shared some of the best fourth of July celebrations in different areas around the country. My favorite was in Stanley, Idaho. We had a great room on the second floor of a hotel on the main highway, and the fireworks were shot off the top of a hill in an area where fire danger was not an issue. At nine thirty in the evening we grabbed a quilt and cuddled up on the balcony and enjoyed the magic of the evening. It was thirty five degrees outside. What romance writer could ask for more. A cold night, a warm man, and fireworks!

Have a great weekend and be safe. From our house to yours, happy July 4, 2009.

Till next time,
